Update IDV Host Software Package

We created an update tool to make updating software packages on IDV Host easier, follow the guide below that outlines the steps you might take to update a software package.

  1. Check the current version and compare with the latest version documented.
  2. Read the release notes or changelog for the new version of the software package. This will inform you of new features, bug fixes, and potential breaking changes that could affect your system.

    # To check version
    cat /opt/idv/version
  3. Review Dependencies
  4. Read the release notes carefully and make sure that the new version of the software package does not require reprovisioning to the IDV Host, which could cause compatibility issues with other software on your system.

  5. Get the package in IDV Server
  6. Download the package that will be updated to IDV Host. Place it under path /home/idvuser/idv-client/update.

    mkdir -p /home/idvuser/idv-client/update

    #Copy the zip file to update folder
    sudo cp -f <NEW_IDV_ZIP> /home/idvuser/idv-client/update
  7. Update the package

    Recommend disabling start on boot to false in IDV configurator. Reboot IDV Host and an update dialog will show. Click confirm to proceed. Check the version of the software and enable back start on boot before rebooting the IDV Host again.
