Once you have downloaded an executable installation file from Intel® Products, the wizard will guide you through the installation procedure. Check the text below for additional information that may be useful during installation.

Installing on Windows* OS Host

The default installation directory (referred to as <install-dir> in primary documentation) is C:\IntelSWTools\system_debugger\<version>-nda, where <version> is a four-digit number indicating the year and a workweek when the release is out (for example, 2138).

Selecting UI Theme for Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg

By default, a special theme designed by Intel is applied to your WinDbg installation. You can modify your theme selection (uninstall or reinstall it) after the product installation as follows:

Launch your installer again.
Select the latest version of Intel® System Debugger NDA, click Modify, and select Add/Remove components.
Expand the Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg component, (un)check the Intel® UI theme for WinDbg* box, and let the installer modify the product.

Without this component installed, WinDbg will use the default theme by Microsoft*, which will not affect product performance.

Installing on Linux* OS Host

Important:

You need to install the product as root.

The default installation directory (referred to as <install-dir> in primary documentation) is /opt/intel/oneapi/system_debugger/<version>-nda, where <version> is a four-digit number indicating the year and a workweek when the release is out (for example, 2138).
