Thermal Trip Signal (PCHHOT#)

The PCH provides PCHHOT# signal to indicate that it has exceeded some temperature limit. The BIOS can configure the threshold over which PCHHOT# will assert and sets the PCHHOT# enable to begin reporting. The temperature limit is compared to the present temperature. If the present temperature is greater than the programmed value then the pin is asserted.

PCHHOT# is an O/D output and requires a Pull-up on the motherboard.

The PCH evaluates the temperature from the thermal sensors against the programmed temperature limit every 1 second.

Note:The "PCHHOT#" on the SOC accounts for both the SOC South and the IOE tiles. In above summary, it mentions PCHHOT# pin only exists in PCH. The PCHHOT# temperature is computed only as a function of the PCH temperature. The processor does not have a PCHHOT# pin.
